
This document details the Network Rail Online Assessment, an interactive recruitment tool designed to evaluate candidates through situational judgment, cognitive ability, and recorded video responses.

Purpose: To assess "grit and determination," creativity, and the ability to embrace a digital reality.
Duration: Recommended time is at least one hour in a single sitting.
Monitoring: The session uses a webcam to monitor for cheating and photo-taking, and employs "behind the scenes" checks for response times and answer patterns.
The assessment is divided into two parts and covers approximately 22 total tasks/questions.
1. Situational & Cognitive Tasks (Part One)Format: Interactive scenarios involving emails, data tables, and diagrams.
Question Types:
Situational Judgment: Ranking responses as "Most" or "Least" likely actions in workplace scenarios.
Numerical Reasoning: Calculating budgets, expenses, and sales totals from provided tables.
Logical Reasoning: Determining if logic statements are "True," "False," or "Cannot Tell" based on Venn diagrams.
Abstract Reasoning: Identifying patterns in sets of shapes (Set A vs. Set B)
Format: Recorded verbal responses to on-screen text prompts.
Quantity: 4 questions.
Constraints: Candidates have unlimited thinking time but only 2 minutes to record their final response; recordings cannot be paused or restarted.
